Tools
Tools I've used.
- Blender 3D Modelling & Animation Software
- Clip Studio Paint Drawing and Digital Painting Software
- Godot Engine Open-source 3D game engine.
- Unity Game Engine Non-open-source 3D game engine.
- Jetbrains Rider IDE for Unity & Godot. (I used it before the AI features were added and just disable all of them... It's still really useful for Unity.)
- DaVinci Resolve Free video Editing software.
- Audacity (Github Link) Audio Recording & Editing Software
- OBS (Github Link) Streaming & Screen Recording Software.
- ShareX (Github Link) Screenshot & Screen Recording Tool.
- Aseprite Pixel Art Tool
- VRChat Creator Companion Launcher for Unity that makes it so much easier to make things for VRChat.
Resources
Resources I keep handy. (But haven't necessarily used.) Always mind usage licenses for images and audio!
- freesound.org Resource of free sounds to use in whatever. Watch out for AI sounds that have been uploaded. (You can filter your search.)
- bfxr (itch link) Classic tool for generating simple video game sound effects.
- Hanna Barbera Cartoon Sound FX Turns out you can use a lot of these classic sounds by just crediting them.
- BBC SFX Library
- Transparent Textures A collection of transparent textures.
- FilesFound.net Collection of digital treasures! Lots of icons, gifs, etc, carefully preserved and written about.
- dafont Classic internet resource for fonts.
- Google Fonts Many free-to-use fonts, mainly for use as web fonts but can also be downloaded. This webpage uses google fonts.
- FreeJapaneseFont.com Collection of free Japanese fonts.
- jf-dotfont Collection of pixel fonts with Japanese characters.
- Ukiyo-e.org Japanese woodblock print search. Supports reverse image search, and artist search. Sources are all listed, check those for usage rights if using directly.
Websites
Other websites! Some are partway between tools and resources, some are games, some are online stores I like, whatever. Maybe I'll reorganize.
- crouton.net crouton.net
- VGLeadSheets Video game sheet music
- Zenni Optical Not an ad I swear, they just have actually affordable actually stylish glasses and I'm always telling friends that need glasses about it. Make sure to get lenses with anti-reflective coating at the very least!
- Puzzmo Hand-written daily newspaper-style games. There's a crossword and original games, too.
- ArtFight Every July, this website hosts an artist battleground where everyone draws everyone else's OCs to get points for their team. (But mostly just for fun.)
- PC Part Picker Incredibly useful site for building a PC. Tracks part compatibility and price comparisons. Users upload finished builds with reviews, and there's some wacky/interesting ones to see. (TIP: You can search for a build with both a certain CPU cooler and case to see if it'll fit, or any collection of parts!)
- Bricklink Marketplace for second-hand LEGO and custom sets. Additionally, 'stud.io' is software you can download on this site for designing custom LEGO sets. A stud.io file can be converted into a bricklink wishlist, which can then be used to automatically fill carts with the cheapest option.
- VoiP.ms VoiP number service. VoiP numbers can't be used for everything, but the rates are low. Can be used to have an apartment buzzer ring multiple phones at once, and have fun music play as it rings.
